Acupuncture Lichfield
If you've never tried it before, acupuncture can feel like a leap of faith. We get that. Our acupuncture in Lichfield is grounded in clinical evidence, delivered by trained practitioners, and used to treat real, measurable problems - chronic pain, muscle tension, headaches, restricted movement and slow-to-heal injuries. It's calmer than most people expect, more effective than they realise, and works particularly well alongside chiropractic care.
Two schools
Medical Acupuncture vs Traditional Acupuncture
There are two broad schools of acupuncture and it's worth understanding the difference. Traditional acupuncture is rooted in Chinese medicine and works with concepts like qi, meridians and energy flow. Medical acupuncture - which is what we practise - is grounded in modern Western anatomy and neuroscience. We use fine needles at specific musculoskeletal and neurological points to influence pain pathways, muscle tone and circulation. The needles look the same; the framework behind where and why we place them is different.
For patients across Staffordshire looking for medical acupuncture, the distinction matters. We're not guessing or working from tradition alone - we're applying a clinical tool to a diagnosed problem.
Dry needling
Dry Needling Back Pain Lichfield - How It Differs
Dry needling is a close cousin of medical acupuncture, but with a more specific target: trigger points - the tight, painful knots that form within muscles and refer pain elsewhere. For back pain, dry needling can be remarkable. A needle into a deep trigger point in a paraspinal muscle often releases tension and pain that hands-on massage simply can't reach. It's quick, the discomfort is brief, and the relief can be immediate.
Combined approach
Dry Needling Chiropractor Lichfield - When We Combine Approaches
For many of our patients, the fastest route to a fix is a combination: chiropractic adjustment to restore joint movement, dry needling to release the muscular tension feeding the problem, and short rehab work to lock in the change. As a Lichfield chiropractor offering dry needling under the same roof, we can deliver all three in a single appointment - no separate trips, no fragmented care, no "let me refer you to someone."
Why both
Acupuncture Lichfield Chiropractic - Why We Offer Both
Chiropractic and acupuncture are different tools for different jobs, but they overlap beautifully. Adjustment restores movement to a joint; acupuncture calms the nervous system, releases muscle tension and influences the way the body experiences pain. Combined, they get more done in fewer sessions. We added acupuncture to the studio because, repeatedly, it was the missing piece for patients who'd hit a wall with adjustment alone. If you're looking for a Lichfield chiropractor who can offer both under the same roof, you're in the right place.
What we treat
What Conditions We Treat
Acupuncture and dry needling work particularly well for:
- Chronic neck and back pain
- Tension headaches and migraines
- Frozen shoulder and rotator cuff issues
- Sciatica and other nerve-related pain
- Muscular trigger points that won't release with massage
- Plantar fasciitis and other stubborn soft-tissue injuries
- General muscle tension related to stress or posture
If you're not sure whether your specific issue is a fit, ask at your consultation - we'll give you an honest answer rather than booking you in regardless.
Your first visit
Your First Acupuncture Appointment
Your first appointment starts with a brief assessment - what's going on, how long it's been going on, what you've tried, and what you want to achieve. From there we'll talk you through the approach, including roughly how many needles, where they're going, and how long they'll stay in. Most sessions involve between 6 and 20 needles, left in place for 10-20 minutes. The needles themselves are extremely fine - far thinner than the ones used for injections - and most patients feel a brief, mild prick rather than pain.
You'll feel relaxed during the session and often quite tired afterwards. That's normal, and a good sign the treatment is working.
